Updates on Child Support
Posted July 2, 2007
Release C has become available on the host site:
https://servic
es.georgia.gov/dhr/cspp/do/public/SupportCalc. As before,
you can also access the host site from the Child Support Commission
website: www.georgiacourts.org/csc. This should be the last release for
awhile of the electronic worksheet/schedules.

If you are using the Excel version, please discard the
previous version and download the latest version as found on the host
site. The intent is that with this new Release you will find the
worksheet and schedules more user friendly and contain many of the
requested enhancements. I want to thank all of you for your
contributions and input, and the Office of Child Support Services for
their hard work and endless hours in getting these products out to all
of you.

Some of the enhancements you will find with Release C include:
--temporarily excluding a child from the calculation
--copying a child's expenses when adding another child
--requiring an explanation of imputed income on Schedule A
--requiring an explanation for seeking an adjustment for an other
qualified child
--providing presumptive amounts of child support with and without
parenting time
--providing a frequency calculator that will assist users in converting
amounts used in the calculator (such as from a yearly income
amount to a monthly amount).
--enlarging the font size of Schedule E, when printed.

With the new version of Excel, please remember to read all of the
instructions on the web page and on the Start Here tab before using the
Excel calculator tool. Otherwise, you may encounter the #NAME? error.

New Release of Child Support Guidelines' Calculators--Electronic Worksheets

On Apr
i
l 17, Release B of the Child Support Electronic Worksheets
became available
o
n the host site:
https://services.georgia.gov/dhr/cspp/do/public/SupportCalc. As before,
you can also access the host site from the Child Support Commission
website: www.georgiacourts.org/csc

Release B includes the release for the first time of the Guided
Worksheet. This is the version that was primarily developed for pro se
litigants and those with not much familiarity with the Child Support
Guidelines. The litigant will answer a series of questions, and their
responses will populate the appropriate field on the worksheet and
schedules.

Release B also brings about a number of changes to the Judges' and
Practitioner's versions of the Web Based Electronic Worksheet. Some of
these changes are stylistic, in that you enter the parties' information
first, then the child's information, then you enter the actual
worksheet.

The downloadable Excel has also been revised slightly. Thus, you will
need to delete the version you have saved on your hard drive, and
download/replace with this new release.

Here are some other features:

*More maneuverable between worksheet and schedules.

*The links to add Preexisting Orders and Other Qualified
Children are now found on Schedule B and no longer on the Worksheet.
The new design of other qualified children also provides a way to
temporarily remove a child from the calculation.

*Help Functionality has been added through links and provides
useful information.

*There are more detailed instructions on the Review and
Signature pages to help users understand the review or submission
process.

*The judge version now has a "Release" feature that allows the
judge to review and release a calculation back to the pro se litigant,
OCSS staff or private attorney. Edits can then be made by that user and
the calculation can be submitted once again to the judge for final
review. This feature works well for cases that are continued with work
needed on the calculation.
*Additional lines were added on the Child's page for the Special
Expenses for Child Rearing that display on Schedule E.

*The Uninsured Health Care Expenses percentage on the worksheet
is now editable.

*Enhancements were made to Schedule E, Lines 2(b) - 11 for
Non-specific Deviations. All amounts entered on those Lines now total
on Line 11. Amounts entered should be actual amounts requested for the
deviation. The judge can use columns 'c' and 'd' to change the
deviations in this section by activating the check box on Line 11.

*The judge's version allows for statutory discretion on Lines 11
and 14 of Schedule E. These additional fields cannot be viewed by
anyone other than the judge.

*The Excel calculator has also been updated. Anyone using this
version of the calculator should immediately download the new version
using the links on the web page.
